How Global and Local Entertainment Industries are dealing with Covid

The year 2020 was a tough year overall. Covid was very much of an issue it affected a lot of people and changed their lives forever. One place that was hit hard was the entertainment industry it was affected globally and locally. locally places such as Boston and its theater have been shut down for a very long time and lots of people have lost their jobs. It has been so long since people have had their jobs that protests are happening outside of the theater. “We were the first to cancel, and we feel like we’ll be the last ones back,” ( Para 3 6th months of unemployment) said Rob Carballo. He is an entertainment worker as well.

Some of these people are still not back to their jobs today. One of them even said “I thought I was going to be back to work in July,” said theater electrician Amanda Holt. “That’s what I planned for. The unknowns are what’s really affecting us. I don’t know whether to start a new career. I’ve invested 15 years into this.” (Para 7 6th month strech of unemployment)This is why the entertainment industry locally is a total wreck and a lot of people are suffering.

Now believe it or not things like this are happening globally too.  Places like China, Italy, South Korea, France, etc are being hit hard by covid.  China's film group corp. has been largely affected by the virus. Many places like China are also having to do things like a switch where they are filming things or stop filming altogether. For instance, Walt Disney had to cancel their press launch in London. That is how the entertainment industry has been affected worldwide by covid.
